Mice Will Be Mice

Below are the roughs for a comic that we're working on called 'Mice Will Be Mice' - it is a story about a lab mouse who experiences some rather odd body changes after being experimented on by human scientists.

We had initially done a shadow puppet show on this for the workshops at the Sunder Nagar Nursery Basti (see below), but we have now decided to convert it into a comic - and include this conversion process as a practical exercise in our study of the relationship between different sequential narrative forms.

Note: these are pencil roughs, so they'll be a little difficult to see.
They're just intended to give an idea of the comic book making process.
Will upload the final inks as soon as they're done :D

There's many more to come! This comic is approximately 16/17 pages long!

Chilka - the comic :) 2009 - 2010

This is an excerpt from our comic 'Chilka'.
It will be published by The Pao Collective in the near future :)

Description:

"Narrated by the trouble-making rishi Narad, this story tracks the journey of Baba- an amnesiac yet old-school warrior who believes that it his “destiny” to save the Pandava Arjuna from his rival Karna. All this from someone who can’t remember what he ate for breakfast in the morning! Unfortunately, Baba‘s debilitating memory problem is accompanied by the will of an ox, leading him rather unceremoniously to the eye of the storm -the Battle of Kurukshetra! This comic started as an experiment and the pair intends to create a full comic book series on the Mahabharata of this nature."

Shadow Puppetry Workshop (October 2011)

In October 2011 we conducted a series of workshops on how to make shadow puppets with children from the Nizammudin basti who are a part of TYPF's Blending Spectrum programme. Below are a few images of the workshops and the puppets that came out of it.
